“An ancient creature feels love and lust for the first time”

Beneath the age-old ocean’s floor,
Where silvered darkness weaves and weft,
An ancient thing—by years outworn—
Awoke to senses long bereft.

His body coiled in dreamless night,
A titan draped in coral lace,
Shells etched with runes of vanished light,
The deep’s slow wisdom on his face.

No rush for joy, nor hunger’s flare
Had troubled his eternal sleep,
Yet through the shadowed, singing lair,
A shimmer called him from the deep.

She swam, a glint of sapphire scales,
Her laughter with salt secrets spun,
She danced where phosphor current trails
And bid him rise—his heart undone.

Something new swelled in his chest—
A fire that thrummed throughout each bone,
A restlessness, a sacred quest,
A longing he had never known.

His limbs, made fleet by wild desire,
He followed where her beauty led,
And marvelled at the silent choir
Of dreams awakening, long dead.

Her eyes met his, two ancient worlds,
In currents soft as whispered trust—
The monster’s heart began to whirl:
Love’s gentle ache, and sweet, red lust.

From cave to tide, he chased the spark
Of stranger-joy that stirred him so;
Together through the endless dark,
Two meteors in undertow.

In time’s embrace, they curled entwined—
A legend, lost to reef and foam.
The oldest soul, at last aligned,
With love to shape and lust to roam.
