“blessing on food”

Across the table, hands entwine,
A gentle hush, a pause, a sign
That in this moment, gratitude
Softly seasons every food.

A golden loaf, steam rising high,
Potatoes glinting, warm and shy,
A bowl of fruit with colors deep—
Harvest gathered, promise keep.

We bow our heads, the words unfold
Like ancient stories—quiet, old—
“Bless this bread, this cup, this plate,
Every gift that here awaits.”

With thankful hearts for fields and rain,
For farmers’ work, for sun and grain,
For hands that cooked, for hands that serve—
Each kindness offered, curve by curve.

And may this meal, in blessing bound,
Spread joy and laughter all around,
May love be seasoned through and through—
O food before us: Thanks to You.
