“Daisy dahlia the black cat”
Daisy Dahlia, midnight sprite,
Moves through moonbeams, soft as light;
Eyes like copper coins agleam,
Whiskers twitching in a dream.
She wears her velvet coat with pride—
A cloak where hiding shadows bide.
Tip-toes through the window’s gleam,
Chasing silver slants of cream.
Oh Daisy Dahlia, dusk’s delight,
With socks of white and tail upright,
She perches on the garden wall,
Hearing distant robins call.
Amongst the marigolds she weaves,
Batting leaves on autumn eves;
Her purrs, a gentle lullaby
Beneath the twisting indigo sky.
A queen in miniature, serene and sweet,
With midnight paws and silent feet;
Daisy Dahlia, black as coal—
You hold a universe in your soul.
