“feelings for a boy”

In crowded halls, the world turns dim,
Except when I catch sight of him—
That crooked grin, those laughing eyes,
A mystery framed in careless guise.

He speaks, and sunlight breaks the gray,
I tuck my flustered hopes away;
He asks me questions—casual, light—
Still, I recall our talk at night.

He knows not how my heart will race
When he looks up and meets my face,
My stuttered words, my blushing cheeks,
The quiet joy that friendship speaks.

There’s wonder in the small details:
How kindness shines, how patience prevails,
How even jokes or stray remarks
Leave gentle echoes in my heart.

Would he, could he, understand
The secret poems within my hands?
For now I’ll keep these feelings close,
A budding hope no one else knows.

And maybe—someday—he will see
A friend who loves him quietly.
For in this shy and glowing space,
I hold his laugh, his light, his grace.
