“feelings for a boy and your talking to him”
In the hallway glow, my heart taps fast,
Notebook trembling as you walk past.
We talk about movies, music, dreams—
But in secret, my hope softly beams.
Your laugh turns Tuesday into June,
Even small talk feels like a tune.
I memorize the flecks in your eyes,
Not brave enough for love’s surprise.
I tell you jokes so you might stay
A little closer, chase clouds away.
You mention you like autumn rain—
I say I do too, hiding my flame.
My words trip over each other, shy;
A butterfly flutters each time you’re nigh.
Would you notice, if I confessed
All these feelings I’ve long repressed?
So I listen, I linger, I smile wide—
Hoping you see how I feel inside.
Maybe one day you’ll read the signs
And we’ll write a story between our lines.
