“I close my eyes and burn again With frost within my heart No cage could tame the wild Our oath still tears apart”
I close my eyes and burn again—
An ember lost to winter’s art—
There’s frost enwreathed within my heart,
A silent blaze that won’t remain.
No cage could tame the wild, the free,
The wound beneath our sacred vow;
It lives, it breaks, it shivers now
Across the fractured memory.
We spoke in storms and fled from flame,
Yet even ash is proof of fire;
The promise, torn yet never tired,
Still haunts my lips with bitter name.
Desire is wind—untamed, unwise—
It shakes the bars and rends apart
The walls that bind a thawing heart—
And so I burn behind closed eyes.
