In corridors of power, bold and bright,  
A woman charted her own course—  
Indira, wrapped in sari and in might,  
She steered the nation’s weighted force.  

Born to a flame of freedom’s dream,  
With Nehru’s hope in every stride,  
She forged her voice into a stream  
Where countless voices might abide.  

She spoke of strength in simple words,  
Of daughters worth their golden weight—  
In fields and courts, her vision stirred  
A new resolve to cultivate;  

The banks stood proud in rural towns,  
For women’s savings, futures soared;  
She called their courage to renown—  
Unlocking work and open doors.  

Green Revolution’s vibrant tide  
She guided with a steady hand,  
And in its shadow, girls would ride  
To school, to farm, to take the land.  

“Take up your space!” her presence taught—  
A lesson more than law or speech;  
In her own struggle, millions caught  
A torch within their humble reach.  

She faltered, rose; she faced the storm,  
With faults as deep as heights were tall—  
But in her shadow, hope took form  
And women found their strength, their call.  

Indira’s name upon the page  
Still echoes through each village street,  
In every girl who dares to wage  
Her battle, sure she’ll not retreat.
