“love cat”

Curled on the windowsill, bathed in gold light,
A soft little monarch surveys her domain—
Amber eyes glimmer with secrets of night,
Long whiskers twitching with dreams in her brain.

Her purr is a current of comfort and peace,
A velvet-voiced prayer spun low in the air;
She dances the dusk with a grace that won’t cease,
Each paw-dappled footstep astoundingly fair.

With a leap, she lands gently upon my chest,
A weight warm as kindness, as patient as dawn—
She kneads out her longing, she settles to rest,
Her trust woven deeply, our worries all gone.

No love is so silent, so wholly profound
As that of a cat who has chosen your heart;
In emerald glance, in the softest of sounds,
She stitches her soul to your soul, quiet art.

Her world is my window, her song is my own—
A love cat beside me, I’m never alone.
