“New baby”

A new dawn glimmers in the sleepy air,
Soft as the hush of doves along the eaves,
Tiny fingers curling, searching, fair—
A mystery in bundled cotton sleeves.

The world shrinks down to this small, beating heart
That fits against a palm, so light, so dear.
A gentle cry—a promise, not a start—
Of joy to spill through every coming year.

Blue eyes open, wide as wondering seas,
Reflecting love from faces leaning close.
A lullaby, a whispered, thoughtful breeze,
The scent of milk, of powder, and of rose.

Welcome to life—where starlight strokes your cheeks
And hope hangs sweet in every breath you take,
We marvel at the newness each day speaks—
A universe has woken, wide awake.

Oh, little one, the world awaits your song,
Your laughter tucked in every morning bright.
We hold you close, where all the dreams belong—
A new soul cradled gently in the light.
