“secret”
A secret whispers softly in the dark,
A shadow gliding underneath the door,
A candle flicker, barely leaves a mark
But kindles mysteries forevermore.
It tiptoes through the hollow halls of thought,
Wears velvet shoes and hums a silent tune;
It seeds what’s hidden, tangled, slyly caught,
And sometimes blooms beneath a silver moon.
A cherished secret, precious as a pearl,
Is carried gently, cupped within the hand,
It aches to be set free, to twist and swirl,
But trusts a heart that vows to understand.
Some secrets wink in laughter, light and bright;
A birthday gift behind a crimson bow;
Some secrets weigh like anchors in the night,
Unsaid, but heavy everywhere you go.
Yet in each secret, woven deep and tight,
There’s courage, hope, or maybe even fear—
For holding something out of others’ sight
Means holding something wonderfully dear.
