“wife's birthday”

Today the morning wears a blush,
A golden light upon your face—
The world’s applause, a gentle hush
To crown you with soft birthday grace.
Coffee simmers, petals spill
From vases I arranged at dawn;
I watch your laughter fill and thrill
The silent corners we rely on.

Each year you bloom—a wiser rose,
Threading bright years beside my days;
In your eyes the kindness grows
That steadies love through change’s maze.
The candles wait, the ribbon twines
Around gifts chosen just for you—
But darling, all my heart inclines
To wrap my thanks in wishes true.

For every moment shared, renewed—
Soft hands in mine, the jokes, the tears,
The quiet courage, gratitude,
That give our life its richest years.
So may the sun tilt just your way,
And happiness, like spring, expand;
Happy birthday, Love, today—
Still more than ever, may I hold your hand.
